The Bible exalts both marriage and singleness. I tried to bring the balance of this needed message, delivered twenty one years ago, to a group largely single. But singleness and marriage are important life phases, usually. Even if one marries, he or she still lives important times of life as a single, so we need to prepare for both. And we need inspiration for both.
The apostle Paul gives us important gender principles for this part of marriage. And he also addresses that other part of life, singleness, with great wisdom, as it also is a “status to treasure.”
As well, the sermon contains an intriguing comparison between the ancient city of Corinth and current New York City.
